Bring your Horse and Ride the Mountains of West Virginia
Bring your Horse and Ride the Mountains of West Virginia
We are a campground that caters to people who camp and trail ride with their personal horses . We do not rent horses. All campers are welcome but the horse camper’s safety comes first. The campground is in the Mountains of West Virginia and located at the foot of Spruce Knob Recreational Area on Briery Gap Road in Riverton, WV. Spruce Knob is the highest elevation in West Virginia. The scenery and views are spectacular. The riding season from May to November will be Almost Heaven. We have 5 RV sites with electric, water, sewer and 2 electric and water sites, all with 50 AMP electric. There is a bath house and restroom for your convenience and covered pens for your horses. Dogs are welcome but should be on a leash when in the campground.
We are the Bonnett’s, Dick and Marilyn. We are horse people and trail ride all over the states. So we know what is important to the equestrian. The Camp Host is a Chocolate Lab, Hope. This is her home so she may venture out to say hello. Jake and Mercy are our trail companions and are always ready for Marilyn to hit the trails. Our goal is to make your stay enjoyable, so we are here to help. The Trails in the Spruce Knob Recreation Area are easily accessed by trail from Wrangler Meadow Horse Camp. Dolly Sod, Tucker county and Greenbrier River are a short haul from Wrangler Meadow Horse Camp. Our camp trailer is available for you to transport your horses to the trail head. Maps are available and trails are marked.
While staying with us experience what the Mountains of West Virginia offer. Pendleton county is the playground for trail riding, hiking, dirt biking, rock climbing and Zip Lining, fishing and hunting, exploring caverns, kayaking and wildlife viewing. In addition to trail riding take in popular sites: Seneca Rocks, Blackwater Falls, Canaan Valley, Snowshoe Resort and other state parks. Enjoy dinning out at the local family restaurant, the Gateway. Shop in near by Franklin for foods, beverages and dinning.
